The NY State Department of Transportation will be replacing overhead signs during the week of December 19, 2016 in the area of the I-490/590 interchange. Specifically, on Monday night, December 19 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the right lane on I-490 eastbound starting near the Winton Road overpass will be closed, thereby closing the right hand ramp to I-590 south. The left hand lane to 590 north will be open and will serve as the detour for motorists to go north on 590 to exit and re-enter at Blossom Road (Exit 6.)
On Tuesday night, December 20, the ramp from I-490 westbound to Route 590- Exit 21 (north and south) will be closed. The detour will direct motorists to continue on I-490 west to exit and re-enter at Culver Road- Exit 19 to return east on 490 to access 590 north or south.
On Wednesday night, December 21, Route 590 northbound at I-490 -Exit 5, will close. All traffic will be directed to exit onto I-490. A detour will direct motorists to I-490 eastbound to exit and re-enter at Penfield Road- Exit 22.
In addition, the right lane on I-490 westbound will be closed approaching 590, which closes the ramp to Route 590 north (Exit 21.) A detour will direct motorists to go south on Rt 590 to exit and re-enter at Elmwood Avenue- Exit 3 to proceed north.
_________________________________________________ The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced utility relocation work is resuming week of February 22, 2016, or as soon as weather conditions permit, on the project to replace the Route 15A (East Henrietta Road) bridge over the Erie Canal in Brighton, Monroe County.
Utility crews are scheduled to begin working on Monday, February 22 on the east side of the Route 15A (East Henrietta Road) bridge. The right lane on Route 15A northbound, as well as the right lane of the exit ramp from I-390 northbound to Route 15A (Exit 16), will be closed from 9 a.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. This closure will occur daily for approximately four weeks. Motorists will still be permitted to turn left, go straight, or turn right around this work zone.
This work is part of the ongoing $30.7 million project to reconstruct the interchange of Interstate 390 and Route 15A (East Henrietta Road), which started last summer. This is the fourth and final contract in a series of projects to improve access between Interstate 390 and the adjacent roads, including Kendrick Road, East River Road and West Henrietta Road (Route 15), dubbed Access 390 Interchange 16.
Project highlights include:
-Construction of a new off ramp from I-390 north to Route 15A northbound;
-Construction of a new loop ramp from I-390 north to Route 15A southbound;
-Construction of a new off-ramp from I-390 north to Route 15;
-Construction of a new on-ramp from Route 15A to I-390 northbound;
-Improvements to the existing ramp from Route 15A to I-390 southbound;
-Replacement of the Route 15A bridge over the Erie Canal; and
-Minor rehabilitation of the Route 15A bridge over I-390.
-Construction is expected to be complete in fall 2017.
